Inverse Multiplexing
Business Case:
Inverse multiplexing offers companies the advantage of scaling their network growth and obtaining additional bandwidth at a fraction of the cost of a T3 or E3 service. Inverse multiplexing over ATM (IMA) combines multiple T1 or E1 lines into a single, logical connection and can be used across point-to-point or leased-line circuits, or an IMA service. Unlike multi-link PPP or multi-link Frame Relay, the IMA protocol supports multiple QoS categories to support the transport of voice, data and video. Multiple priority levels allow for prioritization of traffic if congestion occurs.
