DataSMART® E1 MAX Dual-port
The DataSMART® MAX™ from Kentrox multiplexes video and data traffic onto a single wide area network circuit, and provides the DSU/CSU functionality required to terminate E1/FE1 public network services. Multiplexing different traffic types takes advantage of unused bandwidth, making E1/FE1 links more efficient. The DataSMART E1 MAX also provides access to Frame Relay, Internet and leased-line services.
For your management requirements, the DataSMART MAX DSU/CSU includes an embedded SNMP agent. A comprehensive enterprise MIB is supported, giving you complete control of the DataSMART MAX.
Remote management
With its optional Ethernet connection, the DataSMART MAX can be remotely managed in-band from the corporate office.
Multiplexer Functionality
The DataSMART MAX multiplexes video and data equipment into various PTT services, enabling you to make the most efficient use of your E1 bandwidth. Video and data devices connect via the selectable V.35/EIA-530 interfaces. Additionally, optional X.21 and RS449 adapters are available for further flexibility.
Performance Monitoring and Alarms
The DataSMART MAX DSU/CSU delivers easy-to-use performance reports, alarms and diagnostic control of your E1/FE1 network. Armed with this information, you can identify performance faults and network problems, and trend the long-term performance of your network. Advanced reports and features include:
- Last seven days of E1 performance history and line status
- Last 20 network alarms
- Integrated BERT tester and code generator
Standards-based management
For your management requirements, the DataSMART MAX includes an embedded SNMP agent. The agent supports SETs, GETs and Traps, as well as the standard MIBs. For comprehensive control, an enterprise MIB supports all available functions. In addition, a Telnet server is included, allowing direct access to the DataSMART MAX menus through the network. Remote access to the unit is available through RS-232 control ports or an optional 10Base-T connection.
Easy installation and diagnostics
Shipped free with every unit, DataSMART Installer is an intuitive, Windows-based configuration and diagnostic utility. DataSMART Installer dramatically reduces setup time, by walking the user through the process using a series of Windows-based templates. For easy local installation and troubleshooting, the DataSMART MAX also provides a front-panel LCD and diagnsotic LEDs.
Alarms Utility
The Alarms Utility software monitors the network for interface and device errors, posting them to the event log in HP OpenView®. Custom icons uniquely identify all Kentrox devices for easy recognition on the Network Node Manager topology map.
In-band management
With a DataSMART E1 MAX installed at both the carrier and end-user network locations, an in-band management path is available for the network manager to monitor and manage the remote unit.
