Catalyst Telecom to Distribute Kentrox Q-Series
QoS Access Routers

Q-Series Routers Team with Avaya IP Office to Provide SMBs with
Reliable, Call-Quality Voice over IP

Hillsboro, Oregon - April 15, 2005

Kentrox has signed Catalyst Telecom to distribute its Q-Series QoS access routers aimed at the small-to-medium business (SMB) customer. The Q-Series works with Avaya IP Office to provide SMBs with a cost-effective, easy-to-use Voice over IP (VoIP) implementation.

Kentrox Q-Series has successfully completed compliance testing with Avaya, and is officially recognized as fully compatible with Avaya's IP Office for small office scenarios and as a recipient of Avaya's Developer Connection Compliant Award. The Q-Series routers provide Avaya Business Partners with a cost-effective alternative due to its simpler configuration, installation and maintenance, which alleviate complex installations and certified technicians. VoIP solutions are simplified since Kentrox routers are "out-of-the-box" interoperable with Avaya IP Office and offer automatic Quality of Service (QoS) configuration.

"The 'plug-and-play' feature of the Q-Series routers appeals to resellers and helps telephony VARs with installation and maintenance," said Dan Murray, vice president of marketing at Kentrox. "Resellers can improve their margins with simpler equipment and not worry about expensive install problems."

"By offering Kentrox Q-Series routers, our customers selling Avaya's IP Office will be able to offer a complete, reliable VoIP QoS solution," said Jackie Green, Product Manager, Catalyst Telecom. "Not only will solution partners have the opportunity to offer VPN and firewall functions with a QoS router, but they will also be able to focus on the best solution without worrying about installation and maintenance issues."

The Q-Series access routers help ensure VoIP call quality by prioritizing IP Office traffic over less time-critical data applications and by providing easy-to-interpret graphics of network traffic and performance. These QoS graphs and traffic statistics provide valuable WAN data for confirmation and diagnostics, which aren't available with other routers on the market today.

"Catalyst Telecom has a solid reputation as a leading distribution partner to Avaya Business Partners. Adding Kentrox routers to their VoIP offering strengthens their unique market position since the Q-Series is such a great match with IP Office. We're excited about our partnership with Catalyst," explained Murray.
